The porn industry has really grown and has become very common for people to watch on a regular bases. It is more common for men to engage themselves in watching porn then women. Not only do lonely men who aren’t in relationships watch this for their pleasure, but men who are in relationships are fascinated in it as well of course. A lot of women who are in relationships tend to look at their man watching porn as a negative. Many women think that they are not good enough for their man because they are not as sexy as the women in porn or that they can not fulfill the sexual needs and acts that the women in porn are performing. In this video I have posted for you, it shows that some men just like to watch it. Because a man watches porn, this doesn’t mean that average everyday women are not good enough. I can see why a lot of women do think this, but a man is a man and men always like to look at things they can’t have. That is why I think porn is so popular because when men watch it, it is fulfilling fantasies that they can not perform themselves or what their partner wont fulfill for them so they turn to porn. This doesn’t mean in most cases that they lose their sex drive for their significant other, this just is men fantasizing and getting pleasure from something they do not get in their everyday sex life and women can say the same thing about themselves watching porn.
I completely disagree with you. You argue that pornography harmlessly fulfills men's sexual fantasies when in reality, as we learned in the documentary, "The Price Of Pleasure: Pornography, Sexuality & Relationships," pornography has an immense impact on our cultural beliefs of what sex and sexuality should be. The ideals that pornography presents leach into our everyday life, dictating the way we think about sex. The film even goes so far as to argue that pornography can be a trigger for sexual abuse. Pornography is not simply an innocent pastime; it creates a social system in which women are subservient and abused and men are encouraged to buy into and perform as part of America's rape culture.
ReplyDeleteWhile I did learn a lot in the documentary "The Price of Pleasure:Pornography,Sexuality & Relationships" I have to agree with Gina and I believe most men just watch porn to get off. I do believe, through watching this documentary, that porn is degrading to women, and their bodies do take a pounding (no pun intended), to say that porn causes people to sexually abuse others is like saying rock music causes people to kill people, it's not true.
