Homophobia

In today's society, most people expect men to be masculine. Men are portrayed as strong, athletic, and non emotional people. When men are anything besides this they are considered homosexual or womenly. I do not think it is right that this stereotype is still in action in todays society.  When a family has a boy, the father wants to in roll him in sports and "manly" activities. If a father or even a mother sees their son doing something feminine, such as playing with barbies or dressing up, they put a stop to it right away because they do not want their son to turn out gay or seen as faggot.Theses are terrible terms and shouldn't be used to call a man who is feminine.  Even at the young age of three, children are instructed by their parents and what they see in our society and even children programs of what a guy should be and what a women should be. This is shown in the youtube video at the top of my page where they  interview children asking if they know if they are a girl or a boy. In my eyes it is OK for a man to be homosexual or just a feminine man. Men are still men no matter what and should not be made fun of the way they are. Wheres does it say in writing that a man has to be strong, play sports, and act the way they see "manly men" on Tv? Every man should be respected for who they are and what they do in their life decisions.

Exaggerated Product Placement

In every Tv show or movie you watch there is always product placement. As we all know product placement is when someone or something is advertised within the Tv program you are watching. I think this is a good way of getting products sold or recognized. Although it is a good way of advertising, it gets to the point where it is overrated and overdone. We the viewers, sit through a total about 15 minutes of commercials to advertise throughout a 30 minute Tv program. It makes me think, why do the Tv producers feel the need to bagger us with more advertising within the program and why in this day in time do producers feel they need to make it so obvious? In this Youtube clip I have at the top of my blog, it shows an easy exaggerated form of product placement. Even though “the cat in the hat” is not selling something we as the viewer can really buy, it is giving an example of how Tv shows put product placement in them. The Cat is trying to sell you this product because it is the “best” way to make “perfect cupcakes”.  In this scene of the movie, “The Cat in the Hat”, the producer of the movie, I feel, wanted to show the audience watching the movie that product placement is over exaggerated. Another good example of it being over exaggerated product placement in the clip is that, at the very beginning of this scene an announcer says, “I interrupt this program for a commercial selling astounding products.” In the movie, the scene before this the kids wanted to do something fun, so the Cat suggested to make cupcakes. Once the Cat said cup cakes, this clip I have showed you comes in, which in my eyes, is making it very obvious that the movie producer wanted to show his audience that every program has product placement in them, but they all are not as obvious and blunt as the on shown in the clip, but they are very close. I think that Tv programs and movies should slow down on the exaggeration of selling their sponsors products within the program. If this is how they want people to buy their products, then they should just take out commercials completely and just advertise within the show. What would that hurt; they do it as it is now anyways basically
