Why Do Girls Have to Wear Lingerie to Play Football?

Women may not be as physically strong as men, but that does not mean they can not play sports. Football is a huge male dominated sport that is believed women know nothing about and definitely cant play. This is one hundred percent false. I am personally friends with a few girls on the Baltimore charm lingerie football league, and they are very very good at what they do. They work just as hard as an NFL player. I have worked out with them and they do the same serious football drills and training that male football players do.These women are very pretty and by all means sexy, but dont let that fool you. They are also very very strong powerful women who dont just want to be looked at as tough sex symbols. Most of their fan base is males. In my eyes, this is not because they like to go to the games to watch the hard hitting football and hard work being performed by the women, its because the girls are, in a sense, fighting each other in sexy reveling lingerie. To women watching this, or at lease me, think that these are powerful strong women playing a male dominating sport and are proving that we women can play just as hard as males. It is wrong that in order to play on this team the women have to be degraded and put in these sexy outfits just to get recognized for being athlets or even have a team at all. Even though women playing football and it being streamed live on TV is a step forward, we take 2 steps back because the women are looked at as sex symbols and not respected as a football player. It makes me think, if they werent in lingerie, would the womens football teams still exsist? Its a sad answer, but odds are probably not.

    I completely agree with you on this topic! I am very happy that women are getting a chance to show that they are tough competitors in sports as well but it just sucks that they have to be dressed in lingerie in order to get an audience. That's just sad. We have gone forward by having females being shown playing a male dominated sport by have we really gone forward if they are playing in lingerie. you might think so because at least they are playing now and have an audience, but look who the audience is and look at what the girls have to wear to get that audience. sadly the men aren't even watching the actual strength that these women displays, they are just excited to see pretty girls tackling each other.

    To me, this is the ultimate double standard. I like the fact that woman are being challenged physically, but it pisses me off that they have to dress like sluts to get any sort of recognition. Most men probably don't give a damn about how much power and agility it takes for these woman to actually play.

    I do like the fact that the women are showing that football can even be played by women and also at a competitive level but I think the lingerie is a negative because in order of recognition , the girls must dress a little "ho-ish" , but hey somethings take time.

    I agree that women should not be just exploited as sexual objects in sports but I also must say at least people are watching. I know this might sound horrible but look at the WNBA. They haven't had a new fan since 1996. It might sound a little extreme but if NBA players are paid millions and the starting salary for a WNBA player is somewhere around $35,000 what is that saying about women sports? Who are the primary viewers of contact sports? Men are. This basically goes back to the Women in Wrestling argument and how they are shown as tough and sexy. My point being is that the women choose to play in this league. In my belief if it gets viewers thats all they really care about in the end. Fans = Money
